Comenius
We are delighted here in Gaelscoil Bhaile Brigín to be able to announce our application for participation in a project under Comenius has been deemed successful! We will, along with 6 other schools around Europe, be involved in a project focusing on the promotion of sport. The project’s name is Euroball and it’s aim is to create an exciting, new sport in consultation with our partnering schools. Participation, sportsmanship, learning new languages, promoting multi-culturalism, raising awareness about Europe and our partnering schools, along with IT and much else will be central to our project.
We will be working closely with Gaelscoil Riabhach, from Loughrea in Co. Galway, with whom we have already worked with eg school trip to Leitir Mealláin, Co. Galway, for 3 days last May and also schools in Spain, Hungary, Croatia, Turkey and Bulgaria. This project will culminate in the International Playoffs of this new game taking place in Ireland in June 2014. Representatives from our partnering schools, both staff and children will travel to Ireland and spend time in both Dublin and Galway and play in the competition.
We are really looking forward to starting this project soon. The first step is to run an art competition in all the schools to create a common logo for the project.
We will keep you all informed as we go along. We hope to have pictures up soon, once the project is started. We will received funding through Leargás for this project, for which we are very grateful and we are thrilled to be working with all of partnering schools.
