Our History
Gaelscoil Bhaile Brigín opened its doors on the 4th September 2006 after 2 years of hard work, diligence, belief and goodwill from the Founding Committee. The school community thanks the committee wholeheartedly for sticking to their vision!
The school opened with 35 students and 2 teachers. No doubt, this was a remarkable day for the town, the language, the Committee, parents, students and staff alike. Since then, the school has gone from strength to strength.
At the beginning of our journey, Sunshine House welcomed us with open arms. For 2 happy years we remained as tenants in Sunshine House. The team there were extremely welcoming and did all in their power to ensure that we had a successful time – so much so that we still miss them!
The school is only at the beginning of its journey of growth and prosperity and I for one, am looking forward to it.
However, during 2007/08, we were delighted to receive the good news that we would be moving in to our own brand-new school in Castlelands in September 2008. We opened in Castlelands with 115 students and 6 teachers.
It is, without a doubt, the result of the hard work and team effort put in by everyone in the school community that our school is continuing to grow at a phenomenal rate. We now have 367 pupils, 28 teachers & 10 SNA. As principal, I am extremely lucky to get to work with such a wonderful staff, students, Board and Parent Body.
The good of the students and school are always to the fore, and it is a huge honour for me to work side-by-side with everyone!
